Is it right or wrong for you to be an atheist and join the armed forces?

 

wrong the armed forces are just part of a huge war machine

right Atheists don't believe in dying in manner not of their own choosing.

right atheist are everywhere. Especially in the military.

wrong IF YOU DONT BELIEVE IN GOD YOU SHOULD LEAVE AMERICA. ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

right I've never heard of a God requirement to join the military

right your religious convictions should have little influence on your choice of profession. Being an atheist and joining the priesthood would be an obvious problem, but for the armed forces it is irrelevant.

right why would it be any different? Athiests can protect thier country with the same moral implications. We're just all too dissilusioned to do it is all.

right you can take orders and shoot.

right neither of these cause harm. (though, If you are thrown into battle, you may end up harming others.)

right religious belief or lack thereof should not be a barrier to joining the armed forces.

wrong being an atheist is right, joining the "armed forces" is 100% wrong. I'd rather blow my own brains out than be one of the regimes thugs.

wrong since humans have only one shot at life, it is morally wrong to make a career out of killing other people just because they believe in different political systems. It is a moral infringement worse than child rape.

right you should have the freedom to live your life as you choose.

right what does being an atheist have to do with it? What is it, the mujahadeen? It's the US Army (Navy, Air Force, Marines, et al.) after all.

right religion has nothing to do with the will to protect your country

right theism has no role in protecting country

right there is no reason why atheists cannot be in the army
