Is it right or wrong for you to reverse engineer software using your own tools and expertise.?
reverse engineer a BMW using your own parts and workmanship. ?
share software you have purchased ?
Think software engineering is completely made up pseudo-science ?
right if I do the work of reverse engineering it, I deserve to know how the software works more than the software's copyright owner or author deserves to keep its mechanisms secret.
right It might not work, but you gain intellectual skills from such tinkering.
right sometimes this is the only possibility to get an interaction between 2 programs working. it's great that this is - at least in Europe - perfectly legal!
right this would please the Machine God
right this is legally permitted if you are doing so in the interest of compatibility or interoperation.
right So long as it is for your own personal use, who cares? If you distribute it, and the licensing agreement forbids it, that is wrong.
right if you have the knowledge and the will, you'd be betraying yourself not to pursue your own projects. Yeah, maybe it's illegal, but so are lockpicks, and it makes very little sense from a practical standpoint.
right I own THAT copy of the software and it's my hardware. Software should be open source anyway
right the opposite is unenforceable.
right that's how you progress. As long as you don't take advantage of the work of others, steal their work and profit from it.
right nobody will get hurt.
right you can do it with everything else, why not software?
