Is it right or wrong for you to hang up on telemarketers?

right that's like asking if it's right or wrong to kick an uninvited stranger out of my home.

right they don't care

right it better than being rude to them. I was a TM once and I'd prefer people to hang up on me. Less work!

right they are annoying

right they disturbing

wrong Nothing wrong with telemarketers, they're just following orders

right thats what spammers deserve. Actually hanging is too good for them.

wrong I have your name, address, number, and e-mail. I'll give you calls at 3 a.m. from my blocked number. I will fill your email account with scat porn. I will make your info available on the net. I will drop your docs, asshole.

right The law should NOT ALLOW any phone NUMBER or NAME to be blocked.

right 1st I interrupt & tell them I'm not interested. If they go on, I repeat it once, LOUDER, & tell them not to call back EVER. Then I hang up. I did that with one (which has been reported here many times) a few weeks ago & have not heard from them since.

right it takes two to tango and I don't do Phone Tango

right they are a nuisance and should expect to be treated that way

right I earned money in college doing tele-surveys. We had quotas to meet and unfinished surveys didn't count. Hang up right away and let the marketers get to the next call that might get them paid.

right my answer is always "no." They need to move along to their next prospect.

right i dont care if it is their job to call me i dont want them bothering me!

right Robbers: telemarketers, banner ads, email spam, need to foot the bill to dissimenate their junk. They need to pay the printer, buy stamps. It's bad enough to pay $70 mo. for TV and still have to put up with them.

right some marketers never had permission to contact me and some marketers are extremely rude for being the ones wasting my time.

right I refuse to waste my precious jewgolds on minutes talking to them

wrong if you respond to three questions, commiting to nothing, then you can set the phone down and they will continue talking for 5-15 minutes without needing any further interaction from you, wasting their time.

right if they were real people, as you all say, they would have real jobs..miserable cunts

right I changed my mind when I was told i was off a list but I continue to get 3 a week on my cell phone. SCUM!

right Any that thinks it's wrong is a douchbage

right Just people doing their job? So are the people growing coca... so are hitmen... doesn't mean their GOOD people, just scum doing a scumbag job. Telematketing is for bottomfeeders with single-digit IQs.

wrong if you hang up on them they think they bothered you and wasted ur time! if u say yes im VERY interested and tell them ur getting your info and put down the fone and then come back and call them naughty names and tell them to fuck off, they feel terrible!

right IF I answer, I say "No thank you." If they keep pitching, I politely say "Goodbye"and hang up. I give them a chance, but I refuse to let them suck up my time if their stupid script won't let them say "Okay, then, never mind!" after I say no.

right If after you are polite and decline their offer and they still want to be persistant then I hang up on them. Trying to be nice usually doesn't help so why waste my time.

right My time is valuable. Or use the delightful EGBG Counterscript: http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html to talk with them. Fun, and they may even enjoy it, and it wastes their time thus making their behavior less rewarding and common.

wrong why just hang up? Tell them you are interested tell them to hold on a min, put the phone down and walk away.... instead of wasting your time its wasting their time

right because I didn't ask them to call and if you are on the Do Not Call list..THEY SHOULDEN'T BE CALLING ANYWAYS

wrong I like the whistle idea, and I don't know about those filters, you douche, but I have had several telemarketers bitch me out, and get more pissed when I laugh at them!

wrong They are just doing their job so make sure you give them all your credit card numbers, your bank account numbers, your social security number so they can do their job.

right I am required by the rules of decency to let anyone trying to sell me something talk to me as long as they want to, at the time they chose to contact me and I must never interrupt them or be rude to them because that would be rude.

right I pay for cell phone by the minutes---every minute I talk to them is 10 cents that I am literally losing; besides, the fact that it's their job doesn't matter---their job shouldn't involve breaking the law, like calling a number on DNC registry.

right I am on the DO NOT CALL registry. I pay for my phone service, and should have the right to control who uses it. It's the equivalent of a stranger open the door and come in without being asked. Who would worry about manners in that situation?

right Mainly, they're all machines now and my Tell-ZAP works if it does get through I get all their company info first , inform them that I am registered on the national do not call list

right They are violating my privacy and wasting my time.

right I know it's their job, but I still didn't solicit the call. Don't ask me to pity a door to door salesman for his sore feet either. I tell them to take me off their list and warn them that if I receive a second call I will report them to the FTC.

right I used to sell people s--t and then send them empty boxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wrong Second, politely asking me to not call you and take your number off the call list is all you need to do. All the hang ups and BS just makes me want to waste more of your time. I get paid either way.

right THEY are infringing on MY time, and using MY cell phone minutes!!! If I want to buy something, I can find it; I don't need their help!!! Sheesh...

right If it's a machine, it's okay to hang up immediately; if it's a person, I find it polite to say "sorry, not interested" before hanging up. I feel that a straight hangup is abrupt and unkind, but I'm not going to spend lots of time with them.

right Telephone lines are personal property and for the telecomunication needs of the owner. Telemarketers have no right to tap my personal communications system to hawk their wares. If I want their products, I will call them.

right For all of you who think its wrong, Please post your phone numbers for all of us who think its right to hang up on telemarketers can call you repeatly day and night 15 times a day. Think you'll be upset then? Only a telemarketer would say its wrong.

right I used to listen to them until one hung up on me when I tried to ask a question about her product. Now I just say "Not interested" and hang up.

wrong It is their job 2 call U & ask u twice. If told no 2 Xs they are off the hook. If U hangup on them, they are required 2 call again. If U R on the DoNotCall Registry, then get info 2 report them. Last-it's rude. Put yourself in the caller's place.

right a telemarketeer was so rude to reduce the donation amount downward from $300.00 to lessor amounts after having explained that our Mother had passed away! If I could have layed my hands on that bastards neck he would have been a hurting asshole.

right I'm in the telemarketing biz...and I want to hang up on MYSELF sometimes!! :o)

right it is my phone, I pay for it, and I can do with it as I like. This is not a moral or edicate issue as some have noted, but a personal right as an American.

wrong it's just a job...people don't actually want to be making these calls. It's just one of the only jobs out there.

right after I tell them nicely I am not interested and they refuse to end the call

wrong For all you people who scream and blow whistles, telemarketing systems have filters to reduce loud, sharp sounds.

right ask for their home number so you can call THEM at home.

right they hang up on you, might as well save both of your times by hanging up on those jackasses.

right it's a waste of my time. I hit the mute button when picking it up and wait for the voice on the other line. 9 chances out of 10, it is computer generated.

right Mainly, they're all machines now

right they're a waste of my time, money, and minutes. plus, the product theyre most likely trying to sell me is some bullshit second rate pos that i could also get at the dollar store.

right if you get your jollies from messing with telemarketers than you have much bigger issues to worry about

wrong You might miss out on a great opportunity. By talking to telemarketers I have acquired a set of encyclopedia, a gold coin commemorating the Lincoln Tunnel, and a resort timeshare.

right get metaphysical with them, make a real connection on a human level, block out the commercial crap, waste their time

right they are trained not to hang up on you until you say yes or hang up on them

right it's rude for them to call in the first place. Why be polite to someone who's rude for a living?

right they're annoying

wrong use a combination of caller id, google, and answering machine to screen out telemarketers (and catch do not call violators)

right I used to be a telemarketer. It's no big deal: we just go on to the next number. Sp really both sides win.

right they have no "right" to any of my time, and my time is far more valuable than to waste it on listening/talking to a telemarketer, and what they ask is NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS!

right Actually, why hang up? Ask them to explain more about their deal and walk away ...its on their dime!

right after 40 years EVERY telemarketer I refuse to buy from has rudely hung up on me so you polite idiots deserve what you get

right I get all their company info first, then inform them that I am registered on the national do not call list and that they just cost their company thousands of dollars because I report every TM call. Then I hang up.

right only when they start arguing or being rude.

right I didn't ask for them to call. To hell with them.

wrong it is rude.

right they are a pest, low lives, and do not deserve a second of my life

right their such a pain and wont take no for an answer

wrong I don't care

wrong in general, its not decent edicate, and it's better to end it gentally or proper notice if i'm in hurry but in this day and age, i don't think it's safe to conduct business with any telemarketer, as they might be identity theives, or scam artists

right If I've already made up my mind I'm not interested, why waste any more time? If the person takes it personally, he/she is definitely in the wrong line of work.

wrong Telemarketers are indeed people. They are just doing their job. People that think like some of you are why the world is so fcked up.

wrong It's better to keep them on the line as l o n g as you can (and have fun doing it).

right I have the right to choose who I talk with

right I pay for my telephone. No one has the right to use my personal property for their own marketing purposes or to invade my privacy.

wrong i use a whistle and blow it in their ear when they connect

right this is America!

wrong They are people too. It is good to treat people kindly it doesn't cost anything. I think It is acceptable to hang up only if they keep pestering you.

right even when you try to end the call politely, they won't stop pushing and accept your final answer.

right I didn't ask them to call! Unless they are with the policeman's ball or Women against drunk driving, something like that they shouldn't be calling.

wrong I am not a douche bag (like everyone below me)

wrong it is better to just put the phone down without hanging up so they talk to themselves for awhile, giving them less time to bother someone else.

right they are viewing me as nothing more than a number, and since I will never fall for their sales tactics, I am actually wasting both their and my time by trying to be polite

right I do not want them to call in the first place and they really have no other motive but to make me spend money on something I don't need.

right they are wasting my fucking time... I'd rather fuck with them, though. screaming into the phone to make them go deaf, keeping them on the phone as long as possible, asking them personal questions, etc.

right i cant think of a reason why it wouldn't be

right there is no moral reason not to disconnect if you are not interested. I prefer to play pranks on them though.

right they interupted my day it's only right to interupt their pitch

right how would it not be right? I didn't ask them to call.

right they are irritating
