Is it right or wrong for you to be a preacher or priest even though you know you have major moral faults as long as you are trying to do good?

 

wrong Surrendering your moral responsibility to any kind of institution is just too prone to corruption.

wrong you can't possibly know to have major moral faults AND try to do good at the same time, it's one or the other.

right you can teach without doing what you teach

right even though being a priest is not just about 'trying to do good', anyone who dares to take up the calling won't be perfect, so it shouldn't matter to what degree you're imperfect as long as you're aware of and trying to fix said faults.

right in general people are all broken - but it would depend a whole lot on what you mean by "major moral faults." Also, no one can live up to a religion's code if it is a real religion - any standard you can totally achieve just means you set the bar too low.

right nobody is perfect. Many atheists like to take pot shots at clergy who falter. Dont let them get you down. Dont let them destroy the hope and faith you have,

wrong the world needs less priests, and more people who can actually make a difference. Praying is for silly people.

wrong it is hypocritical to claim moral authority when you have not fully examined and understood yourself

wrong knowing and doing are two separate but connected things. Because if you know you are WRONG and are trying to be good, then these major moral faults wouldn't be there.
