If your partner is "loyally waiting for you", that implies you have a trusting relationship and this trust includes staying loyal. Not staying loyal would be breaking this trust, even though your partner doesn't know about it.

It's only inherent for people to strive for self fulfilment, and in our days and ages most people have the option to do so. As long as other people don't take any serious damage from it, selfishness is a-okay.
